Avalanche. Co-founded by Willoughby Sharp and Liza Béar in 1970, the curator and editor (respectively) aimed to create a magazine on art from the artist's point of view. A groundbreaking experiment in the presentation of contemporary culture in the US and Europe at the time, they still contain some of the most provocative and probing content produced in recent decades. Each issue included news, interviews, artists’ texts, and documents of art and art making. Among the featured artists were Vito Acconci, Joseph Beuys, Hanne Darboven, Walter De Maria, Jan Dibbets, Philip Glass, Barry Le Va, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, Gordon Matta-Clark, Bruce Nauman, Dennis Oppenheim, Yvonne Rainer, Keith Sonnier, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, William Wegman, Lawrence Weiner and Jackie Winsor.
